Wildland Fire, Communities and Connection
With a grant from the Northwest Fire Science Consortium in 2013, we have been exploring the issues surrounding wildland fire in the Northwest. Particularly we’re producing short videos on what communities are doing to prepare for wildland fires and to return landscapes to more balanced, ecosystem-based management. In the project, we have looked at ecosystems in central Oregon and eastern Washington and plan a final production about issues in southern Oregon. Our partner on this project has been the Institute for Sustainable Environment with Autumn Ellison and Cassandra Moseley. In addition, Ben DeJarnette, a graduate student finishing in 2015, has been a key contributor to discussions and development of the third video. This project has been developed in conjunction with OR Media with the help of Erik Bender, Maya Lazaro and Ed Madison.
